Meet our executive team:

Billy Hoard, Chief Executive Officer, founded the company in January of 1988. He opened this business after more than 20 years of experience managing plant-wide operations from compounding to packaging to warehousing at Schering-Plough, Maybelline, Speer Products and Lucky Heart Cosmetics. This afforded him the experience to start his own business and the savvy to foster its growth into a multi-million dollar company.

Clayton (Toby) Maxey, President, joined the company in January of 2001, bringing over 35 years of experience in manufacturing, distribution, supply chain and total overall operations from such companies as Schering-Plough, Maybelline, Catalina Swimwear and Autozone. Toby’s work history includes a background in seeing new product ideas to fruition in the market place, including consumer products such as health care, personal care, cosmetics, sun care and toiletries.

Shannon Hoard Williams is the daughter of Billy Hoard. She joined Memphis Contract Packaging (MCP) in December, 2004, after gaining experience in both personal and corporate financial advising at such companies as William Howard & Co., Financial Advisors and FedEx. She brings to the company experience and insight into the corporate financials, overall budgeting, material cost control and investments. She has an MBA in Finance and Economics from Christian Brothers University in Memphis and serves as Memphis Contract Packaging’s Chief Financial Officer.

Ed Myers joined in January, 2003, with over 25 years experience in consumer packaged goods sales and marketing. He has previously held executive level positions with Maybelline Cosmetics, Cleo Wrap, Wang's International, and Yardley of London. As Vice President of Sales of Memphis Contract Packaging’s retail hair care line, Softee, Ed brings a background of established relationships and experience with major retailers throughout the United States, having called on virtually all classes of trade including drug, supermarket, discounters, dollar stores, department stores and warehouse clubs, as well as distributors.

John Brown came in 1998 from Speer Products with a background in the regulated EPA and FDA industries. He brings broad experience in a range of products from surface disinfectants to topical and internal drug products. As Vice President of Operations, he directs a trained staff of managers and technicians to both produce and create new products and control the quality of the finished goods in our manufacturing plant. John manages internal quality systems in a manner that is superior in the field of personal care and typical of those found in the pharmaceutical industry. He obtained a BS degree in Chemistry from Union University in 1994.

About Softee

The Softee brand originated as a bergamot line in the late 1940s and was acquired as a Division of Memphis Contract Packaging, Inc., (MCP) in the early 1990s. The brand grew after the acquisition to a full line of hair care products, including styling gels, curl activator gels, treatments, conditioners and body lotions. Softee is currently sold worldwide.

MCP was founded in 1988 with a commitment to quality manufacturing and exceptional service. This commitment fostered MCP's growth into a major player in the industry of contract manufacturing, primarily cosmetics, health and beauty aids and OTC pharmaceuticals. Strategically located in Somerville, TN, just outside of Memphis, we are right in the heart of a key economic and centrally-located transportation hub. MCP and Softee house over 90,000 square feet under one roof.

We are registered with the Food and Drug Administration as an OTC manufacturer, and operate our facility in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices. As proven experts in high speed blending and filling and utmost quality manufacturing, we specialize in hot-blended creams, lotions and ointments.

Truly, our devoted people have brought our success over the years. We have honored a team commitment to customer service, product quality and unfailing reliability since we began in 1988, granting us a reputation as an outstanding resource in both the ethnic hair care and contract manufacturing industries. Our employees foster that commitment, many of whom have been with us since we began. Our customers rely on MCP and Softee to get the job done and our hard-working employees make sure that we exceed customer expectations 100% of the time. I speak for our dedicated employees when I say welcome to our web site. We are glad you have chosen to learn more about us!
